Overview

Gulabi Kantha is located in the Yamuna valley in Uttarkashi district and offers trekking in Garhwal Himalayas that is more quiet compared to the rest of the treks here. It is usually started from Hanuman Chatti and passes through the forest areas leading to open spaces of Kandola Chhani and Seema Thatch. The varied landscape ranging from wooded areas to meadows and ridges is the major feature of this trek.

The area is characterized by views of famous peaks of Garhwal mountains, namely Bandarpunch and Swargarohini. With favorable spring weather, the forests can be decorated by flowers of rhododendrons, and clear mountain scenery is typical of autumn. In winter, the trek will be covered under the snow and will require other preparations and route planning.

While most guides give the option for about five days, which include transport from Dehradun, depending on the route distance, camp site and summit height, the overnight arrangements involve staying in guesthouses at the base and tenting on the route.

The trek may be graded by some as easy and by others as easy to moderate. The level of difficulty will depend on the route selected, altitude, weather, snow and the level of experience of the trekker.
