Overview

Har Ki Dun begins from Sankri, a popular trekking hub in Uttarkashi. After a short drive to Taluka, the trail follows the Supin River through dense forests, wooden bridges, terraced fields, and traditional villages such as Gangad and Osla. These settlements still preserve centuries-old wooden architecture and local traditions, making the trek as much about culture as mountain scenery.

The valley gradually widens as you approach Har Ki Dun, revealing snow-covered peaks, alpine meadows, and glacier-fed streams. Unlike summit treks, the destination is the valley itself, where trekkers spend time exploring the surrounding landscape before returning along the same route.

Throughout the journey, you'll enjoy views of Swargarohini, Hata Peak, Black Peak, and Jaundhar Glacier. Daily walking distances are moderate but spread across multiple days, making this trek ideal for beginners who want to experience a classic Himalayan valley without tackling steep summit climbs.
