Overview
Located around 75 km from Bengaluru, Uttari Betta offers an excellent introduction to trekking without requiring prior experience. The trail starts near Husenabetta Village and gradually climbs through stone steps, old fort ruins, small temples, and patches of dry deciduous forest before reaching the hilltop.
One of the trek's highlights is the narrow ridge section near the summit, often compared to a miniature version of the famous Anthargange ridge walk. Although short, this section adds excitement and offers excellent views on both sides. The summit features an ancient Shankareshwara Temple and wide views of the surrounding hills, especially during sunrise.
Most trekking operators conduct Uttari Betta as a one-day sunrise trek from Bengaluru. The trail is straightforward with only a few moderately steep rocky sections, making it suitable for beginners, families, and anyone looking for a quick weekend adventure close to the city.
