Overview
The trek begins from McLeod Ganj or Dharamkot and follows a clearly marked trail through mixed forests of oak, deodar, and rhododendron. Along the way, small cafés and resting points make the climb comfortable, even for first-time trekkers. The ascent is gradual until the final rocky stretch near Triund, which is slightly steeper but manageable.
Triund itself is a broad grassy ridge positioned between the snow-covered Dhauladhar mountains and the green Kangra Valley. The contrast between the rugged cliffs behind and the rolling valley below makes this one of the most photographed viewpoints in Himachal Pradesh.
Many trekkers choose to camp overnight to experience sunset, star-filled skies, and sunrise over the mountains. Although the trek is short, weather can change quickly, especially outside the summer season. Carrying warm clothing and sufficient water makes the experience much more comfortable.
