Overview

The trek begins from Gulaba, a short drive from Manali, allowing trekkers to reach open alpine meadows within a few hours. Unlike many Himalayan treks that spend days inside forests, Bhrigu Lake quickly rises above the tree line, offering continuous mountain views throughout most of the route.

The trail passes rolling grasslands, seasonal wildflowers, grazing sheep, and high ridges before reaching Bhrigu Lake at approximately 14,100 feet. According to local belief, the lake is associated with Maharishi Bhrigu and remains an important spiritual site for the region. Depending on the season, the lake may be partially frozen or surrounded by lingering snow.

Although the trek is relatively short, the rapid gain in altitude makes steady pacing and proper acclimatization important. The combination of easy access from Manali, scenic campsites, and expansive Himalayan views has made Bhrigu Lake one of Himachal Pradesh's most popular short-duration high-altitude treks.
