Overview

Overview

Nag Tibba, meaning "Serpent's Peak," is the highest summit in the Lesser Himalayan range of Garhwal. Its easy accessibility from Dehradun and Mussoorie has made it one of North India's most popular beginner treks. The route begins at Pantwari Village and gradually climbs through terraced fields before entering dense forests of oak and rhododendron.

The trail opens into meadows near the Nag Tibba Base Camp, where most trekking groups spend the night. The summit climb starts early the next morning and follows a ridge to Nag Tibba Peak. On clear days, trekkers can see Bandarpoonch, Swargarohini, Kedarnath, Gangotri, Srikanth, Chaukhamba, and several other Himalayan peaks.

Most established trekking companies operate Nag Tibba as a 2-day trek, making it ideal for a weekend trip. The climb is straightforward without technical sections, though winter snow can increase the challenge slightly. It is an excellent choice for first-time Himalayan trekkers and those preparing for longer high-altitude expeditions.
