Overview
Mullayanagiri stands at 6,330 feet and is the highest point in Karnataka. The trek usually starts from Sarpadhari, where a well-defined trail climbs through rocky steps, grassy slopes, and narrow ridgelines before reaching the summit. Despite its relatively short distance, the trail provides impressive views throughout the climb.
The summit features a small temple dedicated to Saint Mullappa Swamy and offers sweeping views of the surrounding Baba Budangiri Range. During the post-monsoon season, the hills remain lush green, while winter brings crisp mornings and excellent visibility. Sunrise is one of the biggest attractions, drawing trekkers who start before dawn.
Although the trek is suitable for beginners, the steep stone steps near the summit require careful footing, especially after rain. Because of its accessibility from Chikkamagaluru and Bengaluru, Mullayanagiri is among Karnataka's most visited trekking destinations.
