View PackageThe trek begins near Durgadahalli and enters the forests of the Western Ghats before gradually climbing toward Ballalarayana Durga Fort. This centuries-old hill fort provides the first panoramic views of the surrounding valleys and marks the transition from forest trails to open grasslands. The ridgeline beyond the fort is one of the most scenic sections of the trek.
The trail continues across rolling hills before reaching the viewpoint overlooking Bandaje Falls, locally known as Bandaje Arbi. Instead of descending to the base of the waterfall, trekkers reach the top of the falls, where water drops dramatically into the valley below. During the post-monsoon season, the waterfall flows at its strongest, while winter offers clearer skies and expansive views.
The trek involves continuous ascents and descents with several exposed sections, making it more demanding than its altitude suggests. Forest permissions are required before entering the protected area, and trekking with an authorized guide is recommended.
Reach Durgadahalli or a nearby homestay near Sunkasale or Mudigere. Complete forest permit formalities, meet your trek leader, and organize your gear. Rest early to begin the trek before sunrise when temperatures are cooler and visibility is at its best.
Start early and climb through dense forests to Ballalarayana Durga Fort. Continue along grassy ridges toward Bandaje Falls, enjoying panoramic views throughout the route. Spend time at the waterfall viewpoint before retracing the same trail back to the base. The complete trek usually takes 7–9 hours, depending on pace and trail conditions.
