Overview
Gangadikal Peak lies within the Kudremukh region of the Western Ghats and offers one of the most scenic ridge walks in Karnataka. The trek starts near the Kudremukh Forest Check Post and begins with a gradual walk through evergreen shola forests before emerging into open grasslands. As the trail gains height, the summit ridge remains visible almost throughout the climb, providing constant motivation.
The final ascent is the most demanding section. A series of steep zigzag trails with loose gravel and exposed ridges leads to the summit. Although the climb is short, careful footing is required, especially during or just after the monsoon. From the top, trekkers can enjoy panoramic views of the Kudremukh ranges, Kurinjal Peak, Valikunja Peak, Lakya Dam backwaters, and the surrounding valleys.
The trek is best experienced after the monsoon when the hills are green and visibility is excellent. Entry is regulated by the Karnataka Forest Department, and trekking is allowed only with valid permits and authorized local guides.
