Overview
Kurinjal Peak is located within the buffer zone of Kudremukh National Park and is one of the lesser-explored treks in Karnataka. The trail begins near Bhagavathi Nature Camp and quickly enters dense evergreen forests filled with native trees, birds, butterflies, and seasonal streams. Unlike the busier Kudremukh trail, Kurinjal offers a quieter experience with fewer trekkers on most weekends.
After leaving the forest behind, the landscape opens into rolling grasslands and exposed ridges. The final section includes a steeper climb before reaching the summit at 5,751 feet. From the top, trekkers can enjoy sweeping views of the Kudremukh range, surrounding valleys, and endless stretches of the Western Ghats. During the post-monsoon season, the hills remain covered in vibrant green, while winter provides cooler temperatures and excellent visibility.
The trek typically takes 5–7 hours to complete and requires a forest permit issued by the Karnataka Forest Department. Although the route is suitable for beginners with good fitness, the final climb demands steady pacing and proper trekking shoes.
