Overview

Netravati Peak lies in the Kudremukh region of the Western Ghats and has become increasingly popular among trekkers looking for a less crowded alternative to nearby peaks. The trek starts near Samse after a short jeep ride to the trailhead, followed by a gradual climb through dense shola forests and several stream crossings.

As the forest opens up, the trail enters expansive grasslands where rolling ridges stretch in every direction. Unlike many Western Ghats treks, Netravati offers open views for much of the climb, with several false summits before the final ascent. On clear days, nearby peaks, deep valleys, and the source region of the Netravati River can be seen from the top.

Although the altitude is relatively modest, the continuous uphill walk requires reasonable fitness. The trek is suitable for beginners who are comfortable hiking for six to seven hours. Forest permits are mandatory, and entry is regulated to protect the fragile ecosystem.
