Overview

The trek starts from Kukke Subramanya, a well-known pilgrimage town, and gradually climbs through dense forests inside Pushpagiri Wildlife Sanctuary. The initial section to Bhattara Mane is steady but manageable. Beyond this point, the trail becomes steeper as it climbs toward Kallu Mantapa and the open grasslands.

The final approach to Kumara Parvatha includes exposed ridges, rocky ascents, and continuous elevation gain. Although the altitude is lower than Himalayan treks, the combination of steep gradients, humidity, and long trekking hours makes it one of the most physically demanding hikes in South India.

From the summit, trekkers enjoy uninterrupted views of the rolling Western Ghats stretching in every direction. The trek requires forest entry permits and is usually completed over two days with an overnight stay near Bhattara Mane or the designated forest campsite. Proper hydration, early starts, and good fitness are essential for a comfortable experience.
