Overview
Dudhatoli is a mountainous area in the Garhwal Himalayas that comprises various portions of the districts of Pauri Garhwal and Chamoli. The landscape of Dudhatoli is made up of thick forests, pastures, ridges, and mountain villages. The district authorities have located Dudhatoli at 3,100 meters and consider it to be a vantage point above the Himalayan mountain range.
One of the popular walking itineraries is where one starts from Peethsain and then walks through the forest trail to Binsar Mahadev, Udayaramun Kharak, and finally the Dudhatoli pastures. One can also start descending from Bhararisain that lies near Gairsain. The actual route followed, the total distance to be covered, and the destination vary depending on the choice of the trekking itinerary.
It is also an area of cultural and historical importance. The temple of Binsar Mahadev is the temple for Lord Shiva, whereas the Dudhatoli highlands hold the memorial of freedom fighter Veer Chandra Singh Garhwali. This makes the trip an interesting destination for those who like forests, cultural significance, peace, and mountaintop photography.
Though operators consider the standard route to be an easy one, it still stands out as a difficult and remote mountain trail. The conditions for its accessibility depend on the weather, navigation, and other factors.
