Overview

The Bagji Bugyal trek is located in the Garhwal Himalaya of Uttarakhand state and can be reached through the village of Ghes, which falls within the larger region of Dewal-Lohajung. The trek is characterized by its journey through the forest, settlements, and high altitude meadows. It is different from crowded treks like the Ali Bedni Bugyal trek.

The trek typically starts by traveling in a vehicle from either Rishikesh or Dehradun to Ghes. This is followed by walking phases through or around villages and camp sites like Dayalkheti, Devlikheti, and Bagji Bugyal Base Camp. With good weather at the grassland top, one will be able to see snow peaks like Trishul, Nanda Ghunti, Mrigthoni, and many more Himalayan mountains.

This trek can also be considered one where people would be interested in experiencing a quieter meadow, but the level of difficulty will depend on the particular path used, as well as the weather and trail conditions at that time. Some parts require climbs and descents through steep paths, while resources available outside of the villages are minimal. The best period to visit must also be ascertained locally, especially in case of snow or rain.
