Overview
Ali Bedni Bugyal is one of Uttarakhand's most scenic meadow treks. Unlike summit-focused trails, this trek is about spending days walking across vast Himalayan grasslands that change colour with every season. Dense forests gradually give way to expansive bugyals, where grazing horses, wildflowers, and panoramic mountain views define the landscape.
The route begins from Lohajung and passes through villages, oak forests, and campsites such as Didna and Abin Kharak before reaching Ali Bugyal and Bedni Bugyal. A climb to Bedni Top offers sweeping views of Trishul, Nanda Ghunti, Chaukhamba, Neelkanth, and other Himalayan peaks. During spring and autumn, the meadows remain green and clear, while winter transforms the landscape under snow.
Most established trekking operators follow a 6-day itinerary, balancing gradual altitude gain with comfortable trekking distances. The trail has no technical sections, but consecutive walking days and moderate climbs require good fitness. Ali Bedni Bugyal is an excellent choice for trekkers looking to experience high-altitude meadows without tackling a difficult summit trek.
