Overview
The Khopra Ridge Trek is located in the Annapurna Conservation Area in Nepal and is favored by those seeking mountains and village interaction without the hustle of busy trekking trails. The trail usually starts with a road journey from Pokhara to Kimche and then trekking to Ghandruk, which is famous for being a settlement of the Gurung people.
The trek ascends through oaks and rhododendrons forests to reach Tadapani and high forests settlements as the altitude increases, revealing alpine meadows and ridge landscapes. The peak of the Khopra Ridge Trek is the Khopra Ridge at an approximate altitude of 3,660 meters, which offers spectacular views of Dhaulagiri, Annapurna South, and Nilgiri.
Community lodges form a key element of the route, ensuring that the economic benefits of tourism are extended beyond the most popular trekking circuits in the region. The return trip typically includes passage through Swanta and could link with the Ghorepani circuit.
A possible visit to Khayer Lake, which is situated at around 4,600-4,660 metres high, based on information from trekkers, would provide a considerable mountain altitude experience. This needs to be regarded as a different leg of the trekking route.
Spring and fall are usually more popular seasons, but sometimes the weather, snow, and trails will determine the outcome.
