Overview
The Kang Yatse II Peak Expedition is an exciting high-altitude expedition which takes place in the Markha Valley in Ladakh, India. Rising to a height of around 6,250 meters (20,505 feet), Kang Yatse II is one of the most sought-after mountaineering peaks in the area, providing breathtaking views of the majestic Ladakh, Zanskar, and Karakoram mountain ranges.
The climb usually starts from Leh, where the time is spent on acclimatization before entering the picturesque Markha Valley. The route goes through the traditional settlements, river crossings, tough mountain paths, and vast meadows at high altitudes before getting to the base camp of the mountain. As the climb continues, the mountaineers get ready for the summit by acclimatizing, checking the equipment, and undergoing mountaineering training.
The final ascent includes glacier walking, steep snow slopes, and rope climbing. It takes good physical fitness and endurance, as well as a proper adaptation to the conditions of the extreme height. Although it is often viewed as a relatively easy six-thousander for beginners in mountaineering, Kang Yatse II is still quite a challenging climb that requires proper preparation and professional help.
With its blend of wilderness in isolation, meeting new people and a summiting adventure, Kang Yatse II expedition is the chance of a lifetime to see the mighty peaks of the Himalayan range of Ladakh for yourself.
